Ugep Schools Celebrate Independence Day with Academic Pride

Ugep, Cross River State — October 1, 2026:
Independence Day celebrations in Ugep took on an added sense of pride as students and members of the school community reflected on the academic strength and competitive spirit of secondary education in the town.

Three prominent secondary schools in Ugep — Apostolic Secondary Grammar School, Ugep; Girls Secondary School, Ugep; and Dr. Okoi Arikpo Memorial Secondary School, Ugep — featured prominently in the Independence Day academic competition, with the schools finishing first, second and third respectively.

The performance provided another opportunity for students to showcase their knowledge, confidence and preparedness while representing their respective schools.
Apostolic Secondary Grammar School, Ugep emerged as the overall winner, taking first place in the competition. Girls Secondary School, Ugep followed in second place, while Dr. Okoi Arikpo Memorial Secondary School, Ugep secured third position.

Beyond the positions, the results offered a moment for the Ugep community to celebrate its students and the teachers and school administrators who continue to support their academic development.

The healthy competition among the schools also highlights the importance of creating opportunities where students can test their knowledge, build confidence and develop a spirit of excellence.

For Ugep, moments like this are more than just a competition. They are reminders that the town's young people are part of its present and will play a significant role in shaping its future.

As Nigeria marks another Independence Day, the achievement of these students provides another reason for Ugep to celebrate — not only its history and cultural heritage, but also the potential of its younger generation.

The performances of Apostolic Secondary Grammar School, Girls Secondary School and Dr. Okoi Arikpo Memorial Secondary School stand as a testament to the talent and competitive spirit present within Ugep's secondary-school community.
And as the schools continue to nurture their students, the hope remains that more opportunities will emerge for Ugep pupils to learn, compete, excel and proudly represent their community beyond its borders.
